Oops! You’ve crafted that beautiful story for Instagram and posted it, only for you to realize you forgot to mention certain people in it. And it’s already going viral and getting engagements, which means you’re now stuck in a conundrum. Do you delete it and repost and hope the gods of social media smile on you again, or do you leave it as is and risk the ire of your unmentioned friends?
Well, no need for such drastic measures, mon ami. While you cannot edit a Story after posting to add text, images or music, adding mentions to a posted Story is now possible and simple.
Just follow the steps below:
Post a Story
Yeah, this might sound redundant, since that’s what got you into the mess you’re in. But if you just want to experiment, you could as well just post one.

Navigate to Add Mentions
After posting your mentionless story, click the three dots marked MORE on the bottom right corner of the screen. This will pop up a screen with eight options that include “Delete,” “Highlight,” “Save,” “Share as post,” “Send,” “Add Mentions,” “Boost story,” and “Story settings.” Click “Add Mentions.”
Choose The People You Want To Mention
For this, you can either scroll through the users that Instagram recommends or simply type the username of the person you want in the Search bar. Click the name of the account you’d like to mention in your Instagram Story, and the circle on the right next to their username will fill in blue with a checkmark. Click ADD, and the account will be tagged in your Instagram Story.
Note: You won’t be able to see the account you just added. Also, when you mention someone in an existing story, they will receive a notification.
